Marketing & Communications Coordinator - HigherEdJobs

South Dakota State University seeks a creative and innovative professional to coordinate the marketing and communications strategy for the
Office of International Affairs (OIA) and the Office of Continuing and Extended Education (CEE). The marketing and communications
coordinator has responsibility for internal/external marketing and communications activities that enhance awareness of SDSU, OIA and CEE,
and strengthen their positions in the market, build upon an established brand and cultivate the culture of the University. The Marketing and
Communications Coordinator will create, implement and oversee marketing and communications functions to effectively describe and promote OIA
and CEE within the mission and vision of SDSU.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the web sites of CEE and OIA: ensure the content is current, oversee the visual design of the sites; solicit content and testimonials from clients for publication on the web; and obtain and use photos and videos to enhance web presence.
  • Manage the social media sites for CEE and OIA, including Facebook and Twitter, and use the sites to reach new audiences.
  • Develop both paper and web-based promotional materials including brochures, catalogs, posters, flyers, direct mail, and newspaper/magazine advertisements.
  • Develop and order promotional items such as pens, cups, bags, and other novelty items, working within identified budget limits.
  • Write and prepare reports, newsletters and annual publications designed to connect with clients and stakeholders.
  • Serve as unit liaison to University Relations and represent unit in the campus-wide communicators group.
  • Collaborating with University Relations, plan, develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for both CEE and OIA in conjunction with outside marketing firms.
  • Engage internal and external advertising contacts to update, identify, and create effective tools designed to enhance awareness of and participation in unit's programs and services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Graphic Arts, Visual Communication, Marketing, Business, Advertising or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in public relations, journalism, communications, or related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including proof reading, grammar, and spelling
  • Computer skills: proficiency with presentation software, word processing software, graphic design software and basic knowledge of spreadsheet software plus experience researching issues and accessing information on the internet
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with social media, handling various social media platforms.
  • Experience developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing campaign, including both web-based and promotional materials.
  • Experience working with an advertising agency a plus.
  • Experience in developing print and web-based content for marketing and promotional purposes.
  • Experience writing and producing reports, newsletters and annual publications
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy for work
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and within established budgets
  • Confidence to take a project from concept through final application and execution
SALARY:
$39,000 - $41,000

The Office of Continuing and Extended Education coordinates SDSU's online courses and degrees, courses and degrees offered at the attendance centers in Sioux Falls, Pierre, and Rapid City, on-campus summer term, and non-credit professional development workshops and training.

The Office of International Affairs is responsible for the marketing, recruiting, and admission of international students at SDSU, as well as for providing services to the international students upon enrollment. OIA also coordinates SDSU programs and exchanges which send domestic SDSU students overseas to study for a term.
